Down the TBR Hole was initially created by Lost in a Story to help cull your reading list and bring more important books to the forefront.

As this is my first time diving down the TBR Hole, I don’t even remember what the first few books on my Want to Read Shelf are. Ready to find out?

How It Works

  • Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books.
  • Read the synopses of the books.
  • Decide: Keep it or should it go?

This is from when I was first considering publishing and thought what I was writing was some college version of chick lit. It’s not. And while the movie version of this was enjoyable, it wasn’t memorable.

VERDICT: Delete

This was, yet again, supposed to be genre research, but I find myself even less inclined to read this than the previous book.

VERDICT: Delete

Well, if I’m not reading the first book, I won’t be reading the rest of the series either.

VERDICT: Delete

I enjoyed this miniseries, and I adore anything about Jane Austen, so I’m definitely still interested in reading this.

VERDICT: Keep

I enjoyed the movie, mostly because I adore Emma Stone, but I’m not keen on a book that so relies on the white savior trope. Not cool.

VERDICT: Delete

Another book by Jane Green I’ll probably never read. Not because it doesn’t sound interesting, but because there are too many books I want to read more.

VERDICT: Delete

I watched the film adaption years ago with my mother, and while I enjoyed it, I’m not sure I enjoyed it enough to warrant reading the book. Maybe the book is way better, but I’m not horribly interested in the subject matter, no matter how much Jane Austen is in the title.

VERDICT: Delete

I still can’t believe I haven’t read this series yet. I own all six books, but that’s a recent development. At last, I’ll be able to read everything about this iconic redhead. Very excited.

VERDICT: Keep

I love period pieces, and the BBC adaptation presented itself as a Pride & Prejudice style story with more political subject matter.

VERDICT: Keep

Did you read the author? Then you should know my answer.

VERDICT: Keep

What books have you had sitting on your TBR pile for years?

xoxo Dana
