It's that time of year...

A few months ago, I posted about my future plans.

Unfortunately, life rarely goes according to plan.

But that doesn’t mean we don’t make plans and goals for the future. I’ve only been at this author business for a year and a half, and I’m still figuring out how to plan for the future.

Goal #1: Finish Billie's Story

There’s only one more book in the Billie Dixon Series (though I’m working on a couple companion pieces), so I have a lot of storylines to tie up in EVERY TIME WE FALL.

My plan was to release in February, but due to, you know, life, I did not make that date. My next plan was to release in late April…yeah, not gonna make that date either. At this point, I’ve still got a lot of work ahead to finish the book, and I don’t want to rush it unnecessarily, so this has been put on the backburner for a few months while I work on other projects.

You can rest assured this book is going to be awesome, and the second I have more info about the release, I’ll post about it. In the meantime, you can gush over the gorgeous cover here.

STATUS: Goal not met. Goal postponed.

Goal #2: Publish True Love's Wish Series

The first book in this new series was released as part of the KINGDOM OF GLASS & ASHES box set, but the individual release is an extended edition. The book, STILETTOS & STARDUST,  was supposed to release sometime in mid-March, but that didn’t happen either.

However, this book is going through final edits, and I just posted the first chapter for your reading pleasure. The next couple chapters will be shared throughout April, and the book will release sometime in early to mid-April as well, depending on when edits are completed. Hopefully soon.

Even better, I’m already working on the next couple books in the series.

I’ve completed the discovery draft on the second book, entitled ROSES & REVELRY, which centers around a Beauty and the Beast retelling with a cheerleader and a burnout–great for lovers of Jackie and Hyde from That ’70s Show. The third book, with the working title SPINDLES & SPELUNKING, is a Sleeping Beauty retelling about an outdoors-loving girl and an agoraphobic guy who just wants to find his birth parents. This whole series features extraverted, kickass girls and introverted guys who aren’t your typical male lead, and that is something very close to my heart.

STATUS: Goal in progress, though late. Goal updated.

Goal #3: Bring You More Awesome Box Sets!

KINGDOM OF GLASS & ASHES has been a hit with fairy tale lovers, and the group that put it together has only just begun. I’ve signed up for a few more box sets with them, some of which will contain other books set in the True Love’s Wish Series and some of which will contain separate stories.

I’m super excited to continue this aspect of my writing. Collaborating with other awesome authors is a thrill, and it’s so cool to get my books out in front of other readers.

I want to tell everybody more about this, but they’re on the down-low right now. Keep your eyes peeled!

STATUS: Goal on target for late 2019.

Goal #4: Friends-to-Lovers Novella

FOOLS LIKE US was originally supposed to release in October 2018, but when the opportunity to join the KINGDOM OF GLASS & ASHES box set arose, I jumped at it. That meant postponing this cute novella.

Unfortunately, while I intended to simply switch around publishing dates and publish FOOLS LIKE US in 2019, I’m not sure I will fit it in because of the other box sets I’ve joined.

STATUS: Goal postponed indefinitely.

Goal #5: Start a New Series

My original goal for starting a new series was to begin a YA series entitled REINA VERDE HIGH, but that was postponed because of the Cinderella box set. TRUE LOVE’S WISH took over that role, and that will remain true.

I’d like to say RVH will be my next project, but that’s simply not determined yet–and frankly, it’s pretty unlikely. I have so many books planned at this point that I’m not sure what I’ll work on next, and that decision will probably wait until Billie’s series is finished and TRUE LOVE’S WISH is underway.

STATUS: Goal technically met. True Love’s Wish took the place of Reina Verde High.

Goal #6: Get Organized

Technically, this was a goal for the latter half of 2018, and that was pretty well met until my dumb cats got fleas and infested my basement (because it’s the only place with carpet). The fleas have been dealt with, which took way too freaking long, but the basement is once again usable.

My office area, however, is no longer as organized as it was when the flea problem began, and I have yet to devote time to fixing that again.

So I guess, this is a new and updated goal. Because I need to fix this shit to make it usable again. Organize my basement all over again.

STATUS: New goal. No set due  date.

Goal #7: Post Regularly on the Blog

Aside from most of February, this goal is going well…

I will finish out the rest of the IF WE HAD NO WINTER chapters before the end of June.

I’ll be posting these quarterly goal posts…well, quarterly–so the end of March, June, September, and December. Then, in January 2019, I’ll share my 2020 author goals.

I’ll post the cover reveals and the first five chapters of each of the TRUE LOVE’S WISH books as I publish them, starting with STILETTOS & STARDUST, of course.

Also, I’ve signed up for my first YA Scavenger Hunt for April. That will be one my next posts actually, and when you check out my exclusive content on the other author’s blog, you’ll get to see an awesome sneak peek from ROSES & REVELRY. I can’t wait for everyone to read it. 😀

STATUS: Goal going strong.

Goal #8: Join More Book Cons

One of the major things I wanted to pursue in 2019 was attending more public events like book cons, authors cons, and signings. After a serious financial and time assessment, it became apparent that goal was unrealistic.

Because of how much I must focus on my books for these upcoming box sets, I do not have the time to devote to cons or signings this year. While I had a lot of fun in Savannah in 2018, this is one goal I cannot complete this year, but you know what that means?

Look out, 2020!

STATUS: Goal postponed till 2020.

xoxo Dana
